Meet our team – Stephen

Posted in Blog on January 25th, 2022

As you know, employees are our greatest assets and the heart of our business. As part of our new ‘Meet the team’ series, we’re introducing the people behind the scenes, from the finance team who run the business side of things to our Digital Manufacturing Consultants and Analysts, who guide our clients through the RAISE™ process, to the technically skilled Software Developers and MES Engineers who develop innovative, business-focused digital solutions.

Introducing Stephen, Product Manager. Stephen joined Cimlogic as a Control Systems Engineer in 2007, following the completion of a Computer Science degree. With a few years of industrial experience under his belt, Stephen was promoted to Solutions Architect which involved requirements gathering, customer workshops, solution design, and technical project delivery of Cimlogic’s MES solutions. As of March 2021, Stephen started an exciting new role (for him and the company), as Product Manager.

Tell us about your Cimlogic journey

I joined Cimlogic fresh out of university in 2007 where I had studied Computer Science. Having not heard of a PLC or SCADA before, it was decided that this should be a good fit for me and so I started as a Control Systems Engineer (I think I was employee number 11 or so). I gained a lot of OT experience especially with SCADA and Industrial Communications. I left Cimlogic to go to travelling in Australia for a year. When I returned, I had the opportunity to re-join the team! Since then I’ve changed job titles a few times (Systems Integrator, Project Manager, Technical Manager, Solutions Architect and now Product Manager). I’ve seen Cimlogic grow from primarily working with Mars Slough (and doing plenty of weekly motorway trips) to working with some of the biggest companies in the world. We’ve had plenty of challenges along the way which we have always overcome.

What skills are fundamental to your role?

As a Product Manager, I am definitely technical biased and often lean on the Sales & Marketing teams more for their wisdom. Skills include MES, TrakSYS™, C#, SQL, Product Management.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Cimlogic?

The flexibility and being able to work autonomously. Having a voice in any meeting or discussion.

What has been the highlight of working at Cimlogic?

Several come to mind but in recent years the trip to Brazil for AB InBev where we had a 5-day workshop with the full AB InBev team. There must have been 50+ people with a mixture of AB InBev employees, Parsec partners and 5 members of the Cimlogic team. I ended up having to do several presentations and the days were quite full-on, but we had a great time in the evenings!
