Meet our team – Moksud

Posted in Blog on April 27th, 2022

As you know, employees are our greatest assets and the heart of our business. As part of our new ‘Meet the team’ series, we’re introducing the people behind the scenes, from the finance team who run the business side of things to our Digital Manufacturing Consultants and Analysts, who guide our clients through the RAISE™ process, to the technically skilled Software Developers and MES Engineers who develop innovative, business-focused digital solutions.

Introducing Moksud, Senior Software Developer. Moksud joined Cimlogic as a Software Developer in 2017, his first IT role in industry following the completion of a Computer Science degree at the University of Milan Bicocca in Italy. Just 4 years later Moksud was promoted to the role of Senior Software Developer and currently manages a dedicated service support team as technical lead for one of Cimlogic’s largest global manufacturing clients.

Tell us about your Cimlogic journey

My initial intention when joining Cimlogic was to get my first technical job experience for 6-12 months and then pursue a master’s degree in computer science at the University of Leeds. But after working at Cimlogic for 6 months, I realised that I had already found what I was looking for in terms of a role within a company which recognises my values and allows me to pursue my career with all the technical and non-technical support required.

At the start of my career, I worked on a large TrakSYS™ solution project, which allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the software and refine my SQL/C# knowledge – as the solution needed to be configurable and work for many users and systems with different configurations/capacities. Once this project was completed, I had the chance to participate in other projects and enhance my knowledge of manufacturing systems, and gradually leaned into a more senior role which involved the technical design and user requirements gathering.

The project I am working on now involves 50+ different plants in the world, for which I am leading the team from a technical point of view, along with implementing all the processes for the client, as this was a greenfield project in terms of technical processes.

What skills are fundamental to your role?

A very strong software engineering background allows you to easily master new technical skills and is what helped me most to progress in my career. Technology mutates very frequently therefore you always need to refine your skills to help the team and clients with their solutions. This allows me to design the technical implementation and propose different solutions to our clients.

Do you have the opportunity to mentor or help less experienced colleagues grow? Do you think this is important?

As I started as a junior software developer, I had the benefit of working with very experienced developers which allowed me to master many technical and non-technical skills that helped with my quick career progression. As of now, I have the opportunity to mentor many juniors and team members, which I really enjoy. I think as a company, being able to offer a high-quality onboarding process along with mentors is essential and one of the best things about Cimlogic, which they should be really proud of. As a member of the team once said, “We come to Cimlogic for the technology, but we stay for the people”.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Cimlogic?

As a technical lead, I have the opportunity to design how the solution should be technically implemented, which is always a great challenge. Seeing the end results is always very satisfying, especially when the client is able to gain real value and benefit from the solution. Also, I have the chance to work with many great people which makes me enjoy my time here at Cimlogic.

If I was to define in one sentence what Cimlogic does differently from other software solution companies in the Digital Manufacturing space, it would be: “Other companies deliver solutions that the client wants, while Cimlogic delivers solutions that the client needs”.
