Cimlogic Launch Graduate Sponsorship Programme

Post by Claire Healey on Wednesday 25th September

Systems Integrator; Cimlogic based in Baildon, West Yorkshire has recently launched a Graduate Sponsorship Programme to support students in their final year of study and to provide permanent employment after graduation. Ilya Karichev, an Engineering student from The University of Sheffield is the first student to enroll on the programme.

Cimlogic, who employ 26 members of staff have seen a significant period of growth recently as their customers, mainly in the manufacturing industry seek systems to improve efficiency and performance of their operations.

Cimlogic has been working with Yorkshire Universities to fill numerous graduate and student work placement positions. Mike Hodge, Director at Cimlogic says “Industrial Work placements are a great way to prepare undergraduate students for the work place, as it gives them practical experience which they may not get from studying university text books. They’re a perfect opportunity to develop team working skills and to ultimately boost a student’s employability”.

Ilya Karichev is studying an Automatic Control and Systems Engineering Master’s degree at The University of Sheffield and has recently completed a 12 week Summer Internship at Cimlogic. Ilya has been working as a Control Systems Engineer in the Automation Department and has been selected to join the new sponsorship programme.

Ilya Karchev, says “I have gained a lot experience from completing a summer internship at Cimlogic. It has enabled me to put the theory learnt at university into practice, with the help of some really experienced and friendly members of staff. I have worked on a big project for one of the companies’ largest customers. It’s been great to work on the project from start to finish, to learn about the customers’ manufacturing operations and to see the end result. It’s given me a real taste of what it’s like working for a control systems engineering company, and I’m really pleased that Cimlogic has sponsored me in my final year at Sheffield University.

It will not only help me financially but it’s a great feeling to know that at the end of my degree I have a full time position at a growing company”.

Dr Robin Purshouse, Lecturer in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at The University of Sheffield says, “Ilya’s placement will have really helped to accelerate his team working skills and levels of commercial awareness. We strongly encourage our students to apply for both summer placements and our Year In Industry degree programmes to enhance their employability. Cimlogic’s internship and sponsorship scheme is a great opportunity and we congratulate Ilya on his success.”
