Cimlogic joins global heavyweights to advise on manufacturing efficiency
Cimlogic manufacturing execution systems (MES) expert Fraser Thomson will line up alongside representatives from Coca Cola Enterprises, GlaxoSmithKline and Oxford Instruments Ltd later this month to dispel some of the myths around ICT investment and help manufacturers use lean techniques to improve efficiency.
The Lean Manufacturing conference, a one-day event at Aston University on March 19th, will focus on the implementation of lean methodology and explore ways in which manufacturers can overcome potential problems by using lean techniques. The event is part of a Future Factory series, which aims to inspire innovation in businesses.
MES Consultant Fraser Thomson will be sharing his experience of successful lean implementation with senior managers and manufacturing industry leaders at the event through a series of real life case studies, and addressing the ways in which misconceptions around ICT investments may be preventing manufacturers from working more efficiently.
The leading MES expert is keen to dispel some of the myths that surround ICT in manufacturing and explore the possibilities of collaborative thinking. He says: “Adoption of manufacturing execution systems within manufacturing has been very slow, and it is an area that is perhaps a little misunderstood. Leveraging ICT to drive continuous improvements has actually been proven to help businesses gain a competitive edge in the marketplace.”
Fraser will examine the value of ICT and lean-based improvements, advise on how they can be justified and help continuous improvement managers, lean enterprise directors, and transformation leaders from various sectors of the industry build a business case for ICT investment.
“The fact is that technology, no matter how good, will fail unless correctly implemented and supported by a healthy lean culture of continuous improvements and engagement. A successful MES execution means that ROI can be very easily achieved,” he says.
Saltaire-based Cimlogic Ltd specialises in manufacturing execution systems integration; offering delivery, consultation, support and mentoring for MES rollouts. The team is experienced at giving manufacturers the best support and advice on MES, lean and continuous improvement implementation, through its work with household names in the food and beverage, medical devices, pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods sectors including Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, Weetabix and Wrigley.
